Nice to meet you!
I’m Evan, your school trustee running for re-election in Ward 3.
I am a passionate advocate for our community and a strong believer in public education. As your trustee, I am proud to bring our neighbourhood’s voice to the Seven Oaks school board.
Since being elected in 2022, I’ve served West Kildonan, Garden City, and Riverbend/Rivergrove on our board as a champion for local public education.
My commitment to public education began at home. Growing up with a mother who was a teacher, I saw firsthand the difference that a quality educaiton and well-supported public schools can make. I learned that a quality education can open doors, help lift families out of poverty and give every young person the opportunity to build a better future.
As your Trustee, I’ve worked to deliver more teachers and educational assistants, smaller class sizes, stronger nutrition and after-school programs, shovels in the ground to build more schools in our area, expanded vocational and career-ready education, and bigger cost savings for parents,
As part of the school board, I’ve also served as Chair of the Policy Committee, helping modernize the division’s policy framework, and served throughout my term on the Seven Oaks Teachers’ Association–Board Liaison Committee to strengthening communication between trustees and teachers.
Outside the board, I have worked in government and the not-for-profit sector, including in senior management and leadership roles, for more than a decade. That experience has taught me how to manage multi-million dollar budgets, work with employees and community partners, build consensus, and turn ideas into action. I have brought that practical experience to my work as a trustee, always focused on delivering strong educational outcomes and getting the best results for students and families.
In my spare time, I have served as Co-Chair of the Friends of West Kildonan Library Coalition, where we fought tirelessly to save the West Kildonan Library. I’ve also been appointed as a member of the City of Winnipeg’s Library Advisory Committee, and have served on the boards of groups like Functional Transit Winnipeg and Friends of Kildonan Park. I am proud to call Ward 3 home and live here in Garden City.
Since being elected in 2022, I have been proud to have served as your school trustee and will keep fighting for a brighter future for every student in our division. I hope I can count on your support for my re-election.
